Preparations

Yes, I have been away from the blog for some time. My schedule is quite booked with shows for the next month (see the list on the right), so I have been very involved with making new work. I am really enjoying the concentrated time making new work. I wish it didn't have to involve the pressure of a deadline, but that does seem to be the case

Some rings boxed up and ready to go:

I have also embarked on the gargantuan task of making an entirely new booth. It has to fit into the criteria of lightweight, fairly compact and as inexpensive as possible. My vision often gets in the way of the last one. While I am afraid that my credit card might spotaneously combust as I buy all the supplies, I do think it will be beautiful Here is one of the pedestals make of an acrylic virtine (protective paper not yet removed), a painted picture frame, foamcore and wood molding on the corners.
The idea behind using the wood molding was give a nod to the type of molding that is all over the place in my neighborhood. All of the brownstones have crown molding and varying amounts of plaster medallions on the ceiling. Since the wrought iron all around me inspired much of the new work, I decided to bring the architectural detail theme into the display as well.
I don't know if I will be able to post any photos while on the road, but I will definitely get some good shots of it while it is set up at the show.
